How it Works

Is Laser Hair Removal Suitable for Me?

How Permanent is Laser Hair Removal?
It really depends on what area of the body and what type of hair you are treating. If you have very thick, coarse hair, you will see an 85- 90% reduction in hair growth. Someone with fine hair will only see a reduction of approximately 45- 60%.
In our experience, permanent hair removal on the face is more effective for men than for women because women tend to grow new and more hair on their faces as they get older. This can be caused by changes in hormones, menopause, or medication.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work
The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the hair follicle and converted to heat, which destroys root of the hair while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected.
What Does It Feel Like
Treatment sensation varies but is often described as a ‘flick of an elastic band’. No anesthetic is required and most clients describe the discomforts as moderate and tolerable. Our GentleMax Pro laser has a built in cooling device to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible.
The skin may be red and warm immediately after treatment, the hair follicles may be swollen and raised but this usually subsides within a few hours.

I – Light Palge – White Always burns, never tan
II – White Fair – Usually burns, tans with difficulty
III – Medium White to Olive – Sometimes mild burn, gradually tans to olive
IV – Olive Moderate Brown – Rarely burns, tans with ease to a modern brown
V – Brown Dark Brown – Very rarely burns, tans with easily
VI – Black, Very Dark Brown to Black – Never burns, tans very easily, deeply pigmented
How Long Does Treatment Take
Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes and up to 3 hours (for a full body).
However you need a course of treatments which can vary from six to eight at 4-6 week intervals. This depends on many factors including your skin and hair type, ethnic background, hormonal balance, and area being treated.
The laser only destroys hairs when they’re in the growth phase which is why you need to wait a few weeks between treatments.
Pre & Post Aftercare
You must not expose the treatment area for 4 weeks prior to treatment and during treatment and no self tanning products should be used. No plucking or waxing of the area only shaving to ensure there is hair growing from the follicle.
It is recommend to avoid very hot baths or showers 6 hours after treatment, do not have any heat treatments such as saunas and steam rooms as well as Jacuzzis for 6 hours or go swimming as the chemicals in the water may cause a skin reaction for 48 hours
What to Expect from Laser Hair Removal Treatment
When you arrive for a consultation, our laser technician will ensure you are a suitable candidate for laser.
They will review your medical background and ask about medications you may be taking that can affect the results of laser treatment.
If you are a suitable candidate, a patch test will be done that day. If you don’t have any adverse reactions after 48 hours, you can start your first session!
