Laser Hair Removal

Introducing to our ever expanding services to our salon is Laser Hair Removal.

When you have unwanted hair growth, especially on a very visible area of the body, by using traditional hair removal methods, such as shaving or waxing, are temporary before hair grows back thicker and stronger. Shaving and plucking also encourages painful ingrown hairs and annoying skin irritations.

If you want to permanently reduce unwanted hair on almost any area of your body, then Laser Hair Removal is the answer for both men and women.

That is why more people are choosing laser for hair removal. It is fast, effective, safe and a great investment in yourself.

At SunburyX we use the award winning British manufactured, medical grade and CE approved Zeolight aesthetic laser system which harnesses three technologies producing a powerful combined energy source comprising bi-polar radio frequency (RF) with intense pulsed light (IPL) and Nd:YAG.

System treats a vast range of dermatological conditions and achieves impressive results in absolute safety with minimal discomfort and for safe and gentle hair removal for all skin types.

How it Works

The Zeolight® uses the combined energy technology of bi-polar radio frequency (RF) with intense pulsed light (IPL), this increases selectivity and allows for deeper dermal penetration. Less optical energy is required, when combined with bipolar RF, which improves the safety factor when treating all skin types.

With the combination of RF with IPL you will be able to manage hair reduction with better results.

Frequently ask Questions

Is Laser Hair Removal Suitable for Me?

Yes we can treat most people, so as long as your hair is not grey/white or very blonde, we can treat all skin colours and hair types. A full consultation would establish any reason why you would not be suitable.

It’s not just women who get laser hair removal. In fact, a growing number of men are considering getting laser hair removal, especially males who have dense and dark thick shafts of hair on their back.

Is Laser Safe?

Laser hair removal is very safe. The technology has improved vastly over the years, and laser practitioners undergo rigorous training before performing treatments on clients.

The Practitioners providing laser treatment at SunburyX are fully qualified and holds Level 4 Certificate in Laser and IPL hair removal treatments. We perform a patch test 48 hours before actual treatment to make sure you don’t have a reaction to the laser.

How Permanent is Laser Hair Removal?

It really depends on what area of the body and what type of hair you are treating. If you have very thick, coarse hair, you will see an 85- 90% reduction in hair growth. Someone with fine hair will only see a reduction of approximately 45- 60%.

In our experience, permanent hair removal on the face is more effective for men than for women because women tend to grow new and more hair on their faces as they get older. This can be caused by changes in hormones, menopause, or medication.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work

The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the hair follicle and converted to heat, which destroys root of the hair while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected.

What Does It Feel Like

Treatment sensation varies but is often described as a ‘flick of an elastic band’. No anesthetic is required and most clients describe the discomforts as moderate and tolerable. Our GentleMax Pro laser has a built in cooling device to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible.

The skin may be red and warm immediately after treatment, the hair follicles may be swollen and raised but this usually subsides within a few hours.

Skin Types

The lasers we use at SunburyX are medical grade and used by medical practitioners worldwide. The machines work on all skin types and are very effective at permanently reducing hair growth.

The Fitzpatrick Scale

I – Light Palge  – White Always burns, never tan

II  – White Fair – Usually burns, tans with difficulty

III – Medium White to Olive – Sometimes mild burn, gradually tans to olive

IV – Olive Moderate Brown – Rarely burns, tans with ease to a modern brown

V – Brown Dark Brown – Very rarely burns, tans with easily

VI – Black, Very Dark Brown to Black – Never burns, tans very easily, deeply pigmented

How Long Does Treatment Take

Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes and up to 3 hours (for a full body).

However you need a course of treatments which can vary from six to eight at 4-6 week intervals. This depends on many factors including your skin and hair type, ethnic background, hormonal balance, and area being treated.

The laser only destroys hairs when they’re in the growth phase which is why you need to wait a few weeks between treatments.

Pre & Post Aftercare

You must not expose the treatment area for 4 weeks prior to treatment and during treatment and no self tanning products should be used. No plucking or waxing of the area only shaving to ensure there is hair growing from the follicle.

It is recommend to avoid very hot baths or showers 6 hours after treatment, do not have any heat treatments such as saunas and steam rooms as well as Jacuzzis for 6 hours or go swimming as the chemicals in the water may cause a skin reaction for 48 hours
